This privacy notice tells you what to expect when Heathrow collects personal information about you via its websites. Heathrow Airport Holdings Limited and its subsidiaries, (collectively referred to as "Heathrow") each take their obligations with regard to your personal information seriously and is committed to protecting this information. Whenever you provide such information we are legally obliged to use your information in line with all applicable laws concerning the protection of personal data, including the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) (Regulation (EU) 2016/679).

What information does this policy apply to?

  • People who purchase third party services which are offered via Heathrow websites, e.g. flights and hotels;
  • People who subscribe or register to receive information from Heathrow, e.g. airport newsletters;

  • People who enter competitions;
  • People who provide feedback to Heathrow via our websites;

How will Heathrow use this information?

If you are giving us your personal information in the course of purchasing, registering, or subscribing to a service or product, Heathrow will only use your information in order to provide you with that service or for closely related purposes.

The lawful justification for collecting and using your personal information is that it is necessary for the performance of the contract to purchase a product or service which you entered into and/or in the legitimate interests of Heathrow. Such legitimate interests include research, surveys, marketing and monitoring for security or safety reasons.

Trusted third parties help us to deliver these services and products to you. These trusted third parties are only allowed to use your personal information to deliver the service or product you have purchased, registered or subscribed to.

We will keep your information within Heathrow and our trusted third parties except where disclosure is required by law, for example to government bodies and law enforcement agencies. Transfer of information overseas

Some of our trusted third parties in supporting these services will transfer your information overseas and to India in particular. We make sure that your information remains protected and secure. Your information is provided for operational purposes only and safeguards are in place to ensure that this is kept confidential. These safeguards include non-disclosure agreements signed by all personnel who handle information overseas and the inability of such personnel to: (i) access systems containing this information outside of their secure workplace; (ii) use or have smart devices in their possession whilst accessing such systems; or (iii) bring memory devices into their workplace. In addition, the personal belongings of such personnel are checked when both entering and leaving their workplace.


How long will Heathrow keep this information?

We will keep your personal information relating to services or products until you opt out of these services or products or unsubscribe, after which point it will be deleted.

Your information will be retained in a secure environment and access to it will be restricted according to the 'need to know' principle.

When you purchase certain products and services from Heathrow we may send you confirmation emails; these may also include marketing which may be of interest to you. We do our best to tailor this information so that it is useful to you, but if at any time you no longer wish to receive it, you can opt out by following the instructions that we will give you with each communication. Where you tell us that you no longer wish to receive marketing messages about other Heathrow products and services, we will keep this information about you until you tell us otherwise.


What rights do I have over my personal information?

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal information by making a subject access request;
  • Rectification, erasure or restriction of your information where this is justified;
  • Object to the processing of your information where this is justified; and
  • Data portability.
